On the verge of hyperventilating, Allie studied his rugged face, obscured by his shaggy dark hair and an even darker fringe of shifting shadow. His eerie light eyes reflected the meager glow from the kitchen downstairs. She was alone in this cabin. All alone. No one was coming to save her.
If she wanted a way out of this, she’d have to save herself.
When he dipped his head to kiss her, she narrowed her eyes and head-butted him square in the nose. Cartilage and bone cracked. Blood spurted.
“FUCK,” he roared, clutching at his face. “You little bitch…”
At her blow, the wolf-man had flinched back. He’d drawn away just enough for Allie to squirm past him and lunge for the open door. As he turned and growled, she slammed the door shut in his face and locked it against him.
Panting, Allie stumbled backward into the bedroom. Her eyes flew in a panic to the purse sitting on the dresser. She was scrambling for the pistol in the purse when the door smashed open behind her, tottering on its hinges. Gritting her teeth, Allie whipped around with the gun in hand. She flipped the safety off and fired all eight rounds into the hulking, shadowed figure darkening the threshold.
The wolf-man staggered, but he didn’t go down. Allie watched in horror as the bullets ejected like metal splinters from his flesh. Scrunched and smoking, they pinged to the floor. The wolf-man tisked. Swiping a sharp-nailed hand across his singed chest, he sauntered into the room.
“Lead’s not going to work on me, little lady. Shouldn’t you have guessed that by now?”
Allie’s throat clenched. Her features crumpled in dismay. Her hands shook, cold and numb. The gun trembled, lowering. Her clammy grip gave out, and the useless weapon clattered to the floor.
He was still advancing on her, the lower half of his face still bloody from the broken nose that had snapped back into place. As she backed toward the window, fumbling behind her for the latch, he sneered.
“You’re a feisty one, huh?” he said, slicking his tongue through his own crusting blood. “I like it.”
Allie shuddered. She couldn’t help but notice, even through the near-dark, that he was still ragingly erect. Maybe even more so than he’d been before.
“Please,” she said faintly, “just leave me alone. My husband—he’ll be home soon.”
The wolf-man snorted. “That’s a fucking lie if I’ve ever smelled one.” His light eyes glittered. “And even if it wasn’t, do you think I’d care? I’d rip out his throat and be right. Back. Here.”
Allie swallowed, cringing against the cold glass. With each pause between words, he’d advanced another long stride. There was no space between them now.
She could feel the heat emanating from his naked flesh, smell his wild woodsy musk. His panting breath was at her neck. His hard burning cock grated against her belly, lifting her sweater so that she could feel him skin-on-skin. The feathery tickle of his pubic hair made her stomach flutter, made her squirm. The window frame creaked under his crushing grip as he groaned.
“Fuck, little girl. I’m gonna tear you up…”
Allie tensed—sprang aside. But he was too fast. Too strong. She screamed as he wrenched her around and threw her down on her back. The thick woven rug broke her fall somewhat. Still she gasped for breath as he bore down upon her, ripping her soft bulky sweater to shreds.
Her chest was bare beneath it. Quick as a flash, he pinned her wrists above her head. Helplessly, she watched her breasts quiver and heave beneath his greedy stare. Her eyes burned, bleared.
“Pretty,” he said, skimming his knuckle along one supple outer curve.
Allie choked, knocking her head back against the floor. “…Fuck you.”
The wolf-man chuckled. “That’s the spirit.”
