Sesshoumaru’s thumb brushed across her lower lip. When he fit his mouth to hers again, Kagome didn’t resist him. She felt powerless to resist him. He was like a vortex, pulling her in, drowning her in the heat of his desire for her. She was dazed, disoriented. Lost in a tempest of lust from which she feared there was no return.

“I wanted to see you, too,” he spoke against her as she gasped for breath. His tongue swept into her panting mouth, and she was lost again until he murmured darkly, “You cannot imagine…”

When his claws scraped her scalp, she moaned into him, half-tortured, half-pleasured. Each sensation heightened and sharpened the other. The set of claws not tangled in her hair fell from her waist to her hip, surely feeling through her light summer yukata that there was nothing there beneath it. 

Sesshoumaru growled, cupping her ass, squeezing her up and into him. She curled her nails against his armor, torn between the urge to cling to him and to break free of him. Both of these were equally vain—there was no holding to him. No escaping from him, either.

There was only this, the purgatory of the moment she was suspended in—

And the hell that loomed in wait.

“The baby,” Kagome rasped as she parted from him again. Her eyes flew to Shin, sleeping in his nest of fur, in one last-ditch effort to save herself. “We shouldn’t…”

“He won’t be bothered,” Sesshoumaru said brusquely, steering her away so that her son fell hopelessly out of sight.

She continued to retreat at Sesshoumaru’s advance, half-stumbling backward over roots and stones. He lifted the carrier sling from around her, tossed it aside with little less regard than he showed for his own discarded armor. As her back hit the broad trunk of a tree, he pulled loose the sash of her yukata and pinned her in against him. Her dress had splayed open, exposing her down the middle. Her bare breast crushed to his hard chest, the silk of his haori pleasurably cool against her chafed and swollen flesh.

“How many more sons do you want, Kagome?” he asked roughly as he ground into her. “One or one hundred, it makes no difference to me—I’ll give you as many as you like.”

Kagome shook her head, even as her thighs cracked apart at his insistence. She shied away from his heated words, his scintillating stare, even as she rose on tiptoe to try to bring him closer to that spot that burned and ached for him the most. She hardly even knew what she was pleading for as she threw back her head in desperate appeal.

“No…no more…”

“You’ll have to see to it, then,” he said ruthlessly as he hefted her up, so she could feel the whole brutal length of him grazing over her naked, needy sex—harder than the tree trunk grating against her back. “Because the gods themselves couldn’t stop me from filling your womb with my seed. The last time we fucked left much to be desired.” The glint in his golden eyes was nothing short of fiendish. “I intend to rectify this.”

Kagome didn’t realize he’d still been holding her sash in his hand until he seized her wrists and tied them up with it. Raising her bound hands over her head, he lifted them over a stub of branch and hung her there where she dangled before him, wide-eyed, wet and trembling.
