SessKag Series: The Pact, Part 146

This entry is part 146 of 177 in the series The Pact [Ongoing]

That night, Kagome dreamed.

She stood in the clearing of Goshinboku. Not far from the Bone-Eater’s Well but not close to it either. The well was simply an object she glimpsed in her periphery, a presence she felt faintly glowing at her back.

It was springtime in Edo, just like it had been the first time she’d passed through the well. Kagome felt she was a girl again. It wasn’t just that she was wearing her green-and-white school uniform. It was a forgotten feeling of hopeful youth and brimming promise she felt swelling within her breast, tingling fresh and vital down her spine and through her fingertips. This was the moment—this was when her reiki, her spiritual power, had first awakened, coming blooming into life.

Kagome walked up to Goshinboku, ringed with its string of shinto streamers. Green-leafed and already ancient, even five hundred years ago. She touched a hand to the tree’s smooth trunk. She peered at it, searching for the wound of an arrowmark which wasn’t there.

“It’s long-since healed. Why can’t you see that?”

Kagome turned away in surprise. In another tree, Sesshoumaru sat perched, reclining against the trunk. He’d spoken to her in profile, not deigning to look in her direction. It was a haughty snubbing that under the present circumstances only made her heart leap with joy.

“You’ve come back,” she gasped, running over to him. “You’ve come back to us.” Kagome halted at the roots, hunching over and hugging herself around the middle. “…Thank the gods.”

“No.”

Kagome straightened. She blinked up at him in confusion. Then she noticed belatedly that her surroundings had changed—

Gone was the clearing of Goshinboku. She stood on the summit of a mountain range she didn’t know—only she sensed in her heart that it was very far away. As her face fell, she gazed up at Sesshoumaru.

“You’re not coming back, are you?”

“No,” he said, again.

Clasping a hand to her mouth, Kagome turned away. His words gutted her. She bit down on her own hand against the juddering urge to cry out in pain.

“Don’t despair,” Sesshoumaru said coldly. “Inuyasha will never put the question to you, unless you force him to do so. We both know that. The only one who can dissolve this so-called family of yours is you. It has always been you.”

Kagome hunched over that much deeper. Because she knew—she knew that it was true.

“How does it feel?”

Kagome wrenched herself up, looking blearily at Sesshoumaru.

“How does it feel,” he asked again, staring down at her with steely eyes, “to get exactly what you wanted?”

“No,” Kagome said, shaking her head. “This isn’t what I wanted.”

Sesshoumaru slipped down from the tree. He stalked toward her. His molten eyes seared into hers.

“Is it not?”

Kagome glanced up at him. He was very near. So near that she could smell the phantom scent of him. So near that she could reach out and touch him.

She did.

“No,” Kagome said huskily, tugging him to her by the haori, “this is what I wanted.”

She felt his hot graven chest. She trailed her hand down his ribbed stomach and grasped at him between the legs. Her fingers couldn’t hope to encircle the whole throbbing girth of him. She guided his cock to her, and he responded to her at last, grasping her by the hips and grinding hard into her.

Kagome threw back her head. She moaned his name like she’d come back to life—

“Sesshoumaru…oh, Sesshoumaru…Sesshoumaru, please…”

The sound of her own desperate cries awakened her. Kagome sat up with a start. On the other side of the bed, Inuyasha’s aura darkly seethed.

Slowly, dreadfully, Kagome turned toward him. She raised her eyes to his.

His knowing look blazed back into her, piercing into her soul, as he asked her bluntly, “How long?”

  1. Omgomgomgomgomg Wow, well, this is a turn! Yikes! And now we know what Inuyasha has suspected for a long while. I wonder what this will play out for Inuyasha, Kagome, even Sango in the long run. Friendships and relationships are so complicated. The dream scene was great.

    1. Thanks so much, Tsuyoku!! Love hearing your thoughts on this climactic scene & so glad you enjoyed the dream sequence! <3

  2. “How long?”

  3. Good.

Conscious Kagome is her own worst enemy.

Thanks for the update, Char (even if it’s a total cliffhanger). 😏

    1. After mulling over the dream sequence, I get the feeling there’s something uncanny going on beyond Kagome’s own subconscious. 🧐

      1. In this story you never know 😉

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts, friend!! Promise I won’t keep ya hanging too long! <3

  6. OMGGGG IM SCREAMING WITH EVERYONE ELSE! WHAT A WAY TO FIND OUT SOFNKSNDKSS 😱

  7. I’ve been reading since the beginning. I haven’t commented in a long while after finding that you’re further ahead here than Ao3, lol. But I had to comment on this one.

Kudos to Kagome’s subconscious for getting her through everything for as long as it did….because, real talk, mine would have betrayed me a long ass time ago. 😂😂😂 My subconscious would have thrown me under the bus, put it in reverse, then run over me again. Seriously, if I was her, would have legit given myself away before that baby was even born, especially with the way Sesshoumaru was making sure she didn’t forget who she belonged to. 😏

    1. Hey, Zenaida!! Great to hear from you! 🙂 Yeahh I’ve been slacking on cross-posting to Ao3 lately lol – so glad you’ve been following along here on the blog in the meantime!

“My subconscious would have thrown me under the bus, put it in reverse, then run over me again. ” – hahaha mine would have too! There’s no way I could have kept going like that…

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this latest development & hope you enjoy the rest of the story! <3

  8. Not sure how safe she is going to be with Inuyasha there and not Sesshoumaru to help protect her…Inuyasha might just put her out of her lying misery!

    1. Yeahh it’s a scary situation, for sure…

Thanks for sharing, Redwolf! Hope you enjoy the next part <3

  9. I hate he has to find out this way. But FINALLY!!!! I hope she is just honest for once.

    1. Yeahh not the ideal way for him to find out – but cat’s outta the bag now…!

      Thanks for sharing, Kathy! <3

  10. The pining so intense her subconscious outed herself out of sheer horny desperation 🤣🤣🤣

    HELL YES

  11. You can kinda say Sesshoumaru helped her one more time….The way you have built and weaved this story it seems like that was was the only way she would have told Inuyasha. Inuyasha’s response speaks volumes, because he knows he has been losing Kagome for quite some time and he was not shocked at all. Very well done Char.

    1. “You can kinda say Sesshoumaru helped her one more time….” – absolutely! 😉

Thank you so much, badtzmaru! So glad you’ve enjoyed how the story has played out! Thank you for the compliment & hope you enjoy the rest of the tale! <3
