Seeming to sense that he’d really hurt her with his last remark, Sesshoumaru dialed back on the verbal offensive. Kagome was relieved, though she had the sneaking suspicion he was only biding his time until he thought of a new strategy to get under her skin. Either way, he kept the reiki-purging sessions to a minimum. He was so perfunctory in his manner Kagome actually found it kind of annoying.

But she really had nothing to be annoyed about, and so she did her best to dismiss all thought of him from mind. Six weeks out from her estimated due date, she was hopeful that it would be smooth sailing from here.

Then, unexpectedly, a new source of irritation rose to the forefront.

Out of nowhere, she suddenly found herself incredibly—and intensely—aroused. Turned-on like she never had been before. Her whole lower half was fevered, hot and raw. It was insane to her, the way that she felt. She was as big as a house—she had no business fooling around like a horny teenager.

But her amped-up libido begged to differ. 

To add to her simmering frustrations, Inuyasha, for once, was being reticent about fucking her. Up until recently she’d had to beat him off her with a stick, but now, when she was literally begging him for it, he’d become reluctant.

“Hey,” he muttered, pulling back from her heated, open-mouthed kiss, “hold on.”

“What’s the problem?” she snapped, wounded. “If you’re not attracted to me anymore, just say so.”

“It’s not that,” he hedged, visibly uncomfortable. “It just feels…wrong.”

“I’m your wife who wants you—how is it wrong?”

“The baby’s gotten so big now. What if he can, you know, feel it when I’m…?”

Kagome rolled her eyes. “Don’t flatter yourself, Inuyasha.”

“Great,” he snarled back at her, “like that’s supposed to get me going!”

“Don’t pin it on me that you’re disinterested then!”

“I’m not pinning it on you,” he exclaimed, pointing at her belly. “I’m pinning it on him! Don’t get mad at me just because I don’t want to go shoving my cock around our son!”

“You’re ridiculous,” Kagome said, storming off in a rage.

Tensions around the house were running at an all-time high. Despite his reservations, Inuyasha was clearly on edge, inundated with the constant scent of her arousal and her near-constant come-ons. Eventually, he caved. Naked in bed, they spent a frustrating eternity trying to position themselves so that her big belly wouldn’t get crushed between them.

Dragging her by the hips up the incline of his knees, Inuyasha pushed into her. Kagome threw back her head with a throaty moan. She’d never felt anything so good in her life as those first few inches of him pressing inside her. Above her, Inuyasha panted, a slight tremor running through him. His amber eyes squeezed shut for a moment. Opening them again, he leaned over her, into her, breaching her another blessed fraction.

“Gods, you feel so good, Kagome. I—”

At that moment, the baby kicked—straight through her belly into his lower stomach. Inuyasha went stock still, his features twisting into a grimace. When Kagome felt him softening and pulling out of her, she could have cried.

“No, it’s okay,” she begged, trying awkwardly to reach for him. “It’s nothing—”

“It’s not ‘nothing’!” Glaring, Inuyasha pushed her back into the bed. “I told you this was a bad idea, I told you he could feel it! What kind of lowlife fucks around with a kid in the mix? I feel so—so—” 

Tearing a hand through his silver hair, he jumped up from the bed. Frantically, he pulled on his clothes and sword and rushed for the door.

“Where are you going?” Kagome yelled after him.

“Anywhere but here!” Inuyasha yelled back, leaping out of sight.
