I wear a mask just like everyone else. This story isn’t about masks, or Covid, or really even cats for that matter. It’s a work of fiction, an allegorical horror tale that takes place in a universe where people feel that they must do exactly what the government tells them to do even if it’s irrational and painful to a horrific degree. If this story offended you or made you uncomfortable, then I would say that that’s a good thing. You’re free to interpret the story however you’d like, of course, but it was intended to read as a cautionary tale about government power.
