Yay! After a month of waiting, I finally got my invitation this week, and after about 3 hours of some pretty tedious importing, copy/pasting, and OCD-ish reformatting, I’ve added all of my IY fics to my new AO3 account!
I love Dokuga, but occasionally I do have the urge to write outside the SessKag pairing—and, dare I say it, even the IY fandom itself. I have such a love/hate relationship with FF.net these days, and while I’ll continue to post there as appropriate, I just needed another—how should I put this—less Nazi-ish home for my explicit fanfictions.
AO3 fits the bill nicely. It lets you post whatever you want ratings-wise (which is priority #1 for an old GM like myself), has a pretty good interface for reading/uploading, and has some cool features that I really like such as kudos and series creation. Not to mention all the fic statistics us numbers fiends could ever need!
It’s been a long journey—made even longer by FF.net’s stupid-ass “anti-copying” settings. I should write a separate post about how to migrate your fics relatively easily from their godforsaken Document Manager. Long story short, even as a web developer, it was a pain in the ass.
BUT ANYWAYS. Now that I’ve finally got everything up-to-date, I plan to be about as active there as I am on Dokuga, so if you prefer using AO3 please subscribe, and drop a kudos or two if you’d be so kind! 🙂
